Break Your Pattern
An idea is born!
A couple of years ago I faced a family crisis when my father had multiple heart attacks within five days and for 48 hours it wasn’t certain if he would survive. We, as a family, went through a traumatic time. The next three months after that, I spent quite some time with him to support him in his recovery. We had very intense conversations about his circumstances and the doctors’ recommendations and advice. One common them in all his consultations with the doctors was “You need to change your life!”.
Before the health crisis, my father was a very strong and powerful Manager, formerly a Head of HR, Member of the Management Board, later self-employed running his own successful business. He didn’t adopt a very healthy lifestyle did not take on much sport, smoked ocassionally, enjoyed good food, lacked of sleep. However, those were the obvious things to change and in a way were easy. Quit smoking; lose some weight, go to the gym ….
Next to his bed in the hospital there was a 30 year old young man. Slim, non smoker, avid sportsman, sufficient sleep, all evident of a healthy lifestyle. He was also advised by the doctors that he needed to change his life. But both my father and the young man, received no suggestions on where to start, where to look, what to change! Searching through the internet and talking to people, seemed to have led to the same conclusion. Should the focus be more on the physical or mental aspects? Do we go for therapy or seek coaching support? ….. All these thoughts sparked the first ideas!
A year later, one of my best friends and I travelled to Vietnam for a vacation. She texted me saying she needed to change something in her professional life, clear her mind and be inspired. So off to Vietnam we went! When I disembarked from the plane, I immediately realised that this was also the perfect break for me! Such a different culture, so many perspectives from so many angles …. Whilst exploring this amazing country, we discussed in numerous conversations about challenges of getting out of our current mindset. In order to develop new ideas and a different perspective to life, we must approach it with an open mind. We are easily set in our current pattern, that we struggle to break them.
Whilst listening to her and reflecting by myself my idea got more and more clear to me! I wanted to develop a platform for all those people looking for a significant change in life either because they had a life threatening experience such as heart attacks, cancer, burn out or an accident or because they realised that their current life isn’t fulfilling and what they want for the rest of their life!!
I very quickly knew how I would call it! So I secured the web page, wrote down my ideas in a requirements document and now we are here!
I am really excited that my idea has materialised and I do hope you will benefit from and enjoy the content! I look forward to connecting with you and to receive your comments & feedback!
A very warm welcome to "Break Your Pattern",
Yours
