Happy New Year Everyone!

We hope you had a great festive season and a good start into the New Year! May the New Year bless you with health and happiness!

"And there is magic in every beginning": this verse from "Stufen", one of the most famous poems by the writer Hermann Hesse, has entered everyday language. - A new year lies ahead of us! That also means new happiness, new opportunities, new changes, new challenges will also wait for us this year. What is going on your head when you think about the new year ahead?

"No direction in life?"

Author: Judith Roth

When you feel like you have no direction in life

Are you feeling kind of "stuck" in your life or your job? In other words, are you feeling stagnant — like you’re wandering through life with no real direction, progress, or fulfilment? Some people might look at you and think you’ve got it all figured out. Yet in reality, you’re lacking fulfilment? This may surprise you, but here’s what I’ve discovered: You don’t need to have a direction, purpose, or passion, to fully enjoy life. You can live in uncertainty and let life live itself through you! These are not just empty words. I know uncertainty, fear, and worry and I know confusion. And I also know that these are not the most pleasant feelings to go through.

Why do we feel we need direction in life? Because it makes us feel safe. When you feel like things are as they should be, you feel good. But how you think your life should be is created within you. Everyone has their own interpretation, and this interpretation often comes from the outside. You listen to friends and family.

But what does it mean: "Direction"? What is your definition of "having a direction"? Answering these questions will begin to reveal the internal image you hold up as the standard to which life should conform. You will experience confusion when your internal “reality” doesn’t match what you see out in the world. It’s an internal narrative of how you think your life should be. Having a direction in life is having an internal image that you feel matches external reality. That’s it.

But even that is not needed. In fact, without a direction, life becomes an adventure. Living life is like walking in a dense fog. We don’t see more than three feet in front of us. But when we take one step, we see a little bit farther. As we keep moving, we can see opportunities that we couldn’t have seen before. So, movement is the key. We don’t need a direction to do that, all we need is to pay attention to what is available right now. Ask yourself questions like "What do I enjoy doing?", "What is interesting?", "What is fascinating?", "What is fun?".

Notice your mind judging and listen to your practical needs, but allow yourself to play, to explore where your inner being is drawn. Surely there will be some fear, uncertainty and doubt coming up on that journey. What if, instead of excluding fear and doubt, you include it? Gradually, the realisation will cascade to the rest of your life and you will begin to take your mind less seriously. You live more in the moment. One day, you will notice that you’re just enjoying life. This enjoyment is not dependent on how external life goes. Instead, it comes from within.

To sum it all up: Life happens naturally and we enjoy the ride. There are moments of panic, and there are moments of pure happiness. This is life.

1) Focus on what makes you happy.
Stop focusing on everyone around you. We’re all guilty of feeling a little envious of our friends who are boasting of their recent successes: their promotion, their new house, etc. What makes others happy won’t necessarily make you happy. The first thing you should do is explore and understand what it is that you are looking for and what will make you feel happy.

2) Realise your dreams.

Put effort into realising your dreams and deciding what you want to work toward in life, don’t just wait for them to dawn on you. Just as we must put in the work to achieve our goals, we need to put a little effort into deciding what it is we want and hope to accomplish.

3) Get out of your comfort zone.

Taking risks is intimidating for a lot of people—we’d rather stay inside our bubbles. But stepping outside of your comfort zone can go a long way in helping you find greater fulfilment. In the past, feeling like I had a direction gave me a sense of comfort.

4) Let your values guide you.

Our values are guiding our direction in life. What is most important for you? It might help to think about what gives your live meaning. Once you have identified a few core values which are most important for you, you can then figure out what will fulfil your life.”

Today, I do my best, I follow my enthusiasm and I see where life takes me. I don’t search for a direction. If it comes to me, it comes, but I don’t force it.

Feeling stuck in life can be confusing and frustrating. Fortunately, you can take it upon yourself to find meaning in life. Hopefully, the above article will help you do so. If not and you would consider working with an expert coach helping you find greater success and fulfilment in life you are more than welcome to join our community at Break Your Pattern and find some relevant courses or programs for you.

I am also offering an individual coaching program. Take a look at the details below and get in touch if you are interested!

Are there any better ways to start into the New Year?‍

"Enjoy life" - Program

With that program, you might quickly and effectively come to new insights into what makes you happy. You will become an observer from the meta perspective and reflect on your own situation. You will perceive and observe yourself as a third person with the view from the outside. This sufficient distance to the topic will allow you a reflection and articulation of your actual situation. As a result, new perspectives and dreams will arise and new options for action are made possible.

We look at information and resources that make you feel inspired, courageous, and optimistic. Step-by-step we integrate that information into your daily life, building a more relaxed approach in your life and/or your job.

Here are some details on the Coaching-Program:

It includes 3 Coaching Sessions

Dates are agreed bilateral
